With the number of deaths that took place, it was made extremely clear that China was going to refuse to change their hardline stance on government policies and other positions they were acting on at the time. However, some of the economic damage was irreversible (or so it was said), and this would lead to the end of the price controls that were taking place in the country. However, following this disaster, some cultural changes took place. The standard of living has improved exponentially and, in addition, China has become one of the most influential economic powers in the world. This proved the initial skeptics that deemed the economic changes irreversible wrong.

The Japanese were responsible for bringing communism to China in many ways. With their invasion of Manchuria, a new form of government was desired in order to bring new peace to the Chinese country. The Stimson doctrine contributed to this as well, as the US sphere of influence began to include this, and the US began to react to the Japanese actions in Manchuria. The Sino-Japanese wars that took place during this time periods also championed the path to communism.
Yes, they do rank. This is exactly the same situation as the Hitler and Stalin events, as they were all committed in order to achieve a political goal. By taking the lives of all these people, the Chinese government was able to make a point and achieve their goal of obtaining seats in the UN. With this, they were able to be recognized as a major political power in the world.
