- Free Enterprise
- Introduces socialist measures
- People unhappy "hoovervilles" (small shacks on outskirts of major cities)
- replaced by Franklin D. Roosevelt in 1932 election
Summary
Hoover was the president of the United States during these difficult times. One of his stances was free enterprise, and he was big on helping business like the car industry and other large enterprises. High tariffs was another belief of his. He started a government restriction on immigration, specifically Asians, during this time. This was to counter all of the immigrants who were intending to come in and get employed, something they wanted to avoid as the Americans that were already there were already lacking in employment.

Subjunctive Question
What would it have been like if Roosevelt was elected in 1928 and not Hoover? Would things be a lot different?
